Sarah, Tutor at Inside Out Yoga

Introducing Sarah, a recent addition to the yoga tutor team here at Inside Out.

Here’s how she responded to our questions.

  1. How long have you been practising yoga and how long have you been teaching?
I started practising yoga 17 years ago, I started teaching after graduating in 2015.
  2. What first got you into yoga?
I had a friend who came to my house one night with a yoga DVD, she said it would be fun to do. I loved it, I went out a few days later and bought the DVD for myself. Not long after that I joined a weekly yoga class and I’ve been doing yoga ever since. I loved the way every class made me feel, I was full of energy, happy but relaxed at the same time.
  3. What is your favourite yoga pose or practice, and why?
Downward dog, I always feel like my body has had a full stretch, I feel energised, taller and I always come out of it smiling. It’s my happy pose. Sun sequence is another favourite, I like how it can be done at any pace with amazing benefits, It’s just a great “head clearer” It always puts things into perspective for me.
  4. And which is your least favourite! And why?
Pigeon Pose……. I just can’t get on with it.
  5. Any claims to fame?
I’ve done yoga sessions with some of the Huddersfield town players…….. Oh and I’ve been on the news with Sir Patrick Stewart!!
  6. Any other interests or hobbies?
Love going to the gym, sitting on the sofa with a good book or baking (my family like my baking hobby!)
  7. Can you describe your yoga class in 3 words?
    Fun, Friendly and Positive!
  8. Do you have any advice for someone thinking about trying Dru Yoga for the first time?
Don’t waste time thinking about it…..do it.
